Registration & Renewal
In order to practice as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the Province of Alberta, dental hygienists are required to be registered with the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDHA).
Practicing dental hygiene in the Province of Alberta or using the professional titles Registered Dental Hygienist or Dental Hygienist without being registered with CRDHA and without holding a Practice Permit is a punishable offence under the Health Professions Act.
Persons who meet the requirements for registration will be issued a unique registration number and a Practice Permit. Practice Permits expire on October 31 of each year. Registered members must renew their Practice Permit and pay the required fees each year.
Registration with the CRDHA assures the public and employers that an individual has met the academic and experiential requirements required to practice in the profession.
Employers are advised to contact the CRDHA to confirm that their employees are registered and hold a current Practice Permit.
