Legislation and Standards of Practice
The primary function of the CRDHA is to promote quality dental hygiene practice and ensure client safety. This means that the public can expect to receive dental hygiene services from competent professionals who are registered with the CRDHA.

The Health Professions Act and the Dental Hygienists Profession Regulation came into force for the dental hygienists profession on October 31, 2006. The Standards of Practice listed below were developed in consultation with dental hygienists and other stakeholders.

Additionally, Practice Guidelines are decision making aids developed to support specific areas of dental hygiene practice. Practice Guidelines are dynamic and intended to reflect current best practice in relation to specific areas of dental hygiene practice. The Practice Guidelines are available to CRDHA members.
