Who makes the rules?

The Government of Alberta appoints the CRDHA as the regulatory body for the profession of dental hygiene in the Province of Alberta. The CRDHA is governed by a Council of dedicated volunteers.

The CRDHA Council operates within a Policy Governance© Model through which it:

  • determines policies to clearly guide the Council's activities and the Registrar/CAO staff position.
  • develops a mission statement, goals and management which provide immediate and long range guidance to Council.
  • manages and conducts the affairs of the College by holding business meetings and governance workshops.
  • CRDHA Members annually elect a Council of at least seven registered dental hygienists.
  • The Government of Alberta appoints public members.

The CRDHA has three ongoing committees whose members are recruited from the CRDHA membership:

  • Competence Committee
  • Registration Committee
  • Hearings Tribunal
